It’s my favorite week of my favorite blog hop!
Here is our latest schoolroom update, from about two weeks ago.
This is the view when you come to the top of the steps-
Facing the classroom-
Our cubbies that keep our toys, some books and our current books in use.
The reading nook-
“Tiny table” area-
Computer desks and bookcases-
Whiteboard, doors to playroom and my husband’s office-
Leah, the baby-
Hall with extra bookcases and rolling carts-
This space is an open room in our upstairs, which used to be the playroom. I love having a schoolroom away from our main living areas. Where do you homeschool?

WOW…this is just awesome!! I love everything, including the space you chose..it’s perfect!!! ?I too would love it if you would show more on how you organized all the smaller things,/it all looks so neat and tidy, yet fun too. Thank you so much for sharing all of this.
That post is in the works. I hope to get to it this weekend. :)
I would love if you did a post on a close-up of your organization in your homeschool room (or maybe you’ve done this and I missed it). I’d love to know more about what you use your rolling bins/drawers for (between the doors) and the trays on top. My mind starting thinking of all the great reasons I should use trays–manipulatives, projects, science experiments, use them for a hard writing surface…
I have a couple of those drawer bins that I just emptied (we’ve finally outgrown the polly pockets and some other toys) and was trying to think what I should use them for now.
Also, what do use your fabric cube drawers for? Does each child have their own?
Lastly, I was looking at the same computer chairs at WalMart…how comfortable are they? Do you think they will hold up well? I’m trying to add some color to our drab basement schoolroom, and these are on my list of possibilities.
Sorry for all the questions, but we’re in the middle of a schoolroom re-do and your set-up is very appealing to me :)
I love questions! The rolling carts drawers just hold math books, drawing pads, and other things that don’t look pretty on a shelf. ;) There is one for each child.
The fabric cubes hold toys, organized by category, and they have a label on the front {a few are waiting on replacement tags that are laminated and cut but haven’t made it upstairs}. The tags are very specific-cars, Nascar, Heroes, Star Wars….
The chairs are very comfortable, and have held up very well. We actually have one more in another room.
The trays are used for many things-to sort counters by color, to keep messy play-doh on, trays when the kids play waiter…they have been very handy! Let me know if I can help with anything else, and enjoy your redo!
Thanks so much!!! One more question :) Do you remember where you got your trays?
Yes, I am OCD, and remember where everything comes from! They are from Oriental Trading Company.

I love your schoolroom! I’m slowly making my way through every post on the NBTS Schoolroom post, and so far, yours is my very favorite room. :)
I’m just curious…are the other doors, doors leading to bedrooms?
Thank you!!! The two you can see side by side are the playroom and hubby’s office. There are two bedrooms on the far left and right up there as well.

This is a GREAT space. Thanks for sharing it. I homeschool all over our house.
But we do have 2 dedicated spaces to enjoy as well so our stuff isn’t mixed into our living areas permanently.
We would homeschool in more rooms than this one, but with six kids, I am afraid we would never know where anything was!
I love your classroom especially the reading nook. I need to create a reading area in our home.
It is a great little getaway. :)
I love it all! So nice and inviting! The colors are just great! Found you at the Not Back to School Blog Hop!

Thanks for stopping by, and for leaving your link so I could visit your space too!
Great use of space! We have a school room this year I hope it works ….we typically like the dining room table but we are trying something different! Blessings, Lisa Marie
We homeschool in our living room and dining room (it’s all interconnected) but mainly on the couches! ;) Love your space, so open and cheery!
I LOVE your schoolroom! So awesome!
LOVE your space!!! Do you remember where you got the desks and chairs?
Yes, ma’am! I got them at Walmart. :) Here is a link to the chair, which is only online now:

The desk is this one, but appears out of stock: http://www.walmart.com/ip/your-zone-metal-and-glass-desk-black/14710689
I have been very impressed with both. They are still as nice as two years ago.
GREAT space! It’s sooo organized! Love the sweet little nook with the tiny table. :) Blessings for a great school year!

Thank you! I am headed your way now. :)
It is a beautiful (and very organized!) room. We also have a black finish on our schoolroom table–I wish my bookshelves matched as well as yours. The reading nook is terrific, a great use for a small space!
Thank you, Heidi! Your wall color used to be our dining room color-I love it!
What a great room! I like how it’s an open loft (our basement classroom can feel a little claustrophobic at times!) The reading nook and the tiny table area are so cozy–bet your kids just love the space!
I love the photo of your kids on bikes. That took a lot of cooperation, for six kids! Have a great year learning together!
Thanks! With six kids we need a space as open as we have. We truly enjoy it! The kids on bikes-yep-they all wanted to ride instead. I am thankful they paused to capture the moment-most of them got new bikes this weekend. :)
We used to homeschool in an extra bedroom upstairs that had cathedral ceilings, palladian window with beautiful views and bathroom ensuite. But then the a/c unit upstairs broke and so we moved to the old formal living room I turned into a library. My ds prefers to homeschool there. Me, I’m not so crazy about it. I want my library separate. Plus the upstairs room had a lot of wall space.
Any chance you can get it fixed and move back? It sounds lovely!!
Love it!
Thank you!
Your homeschool space is so inviting! I absolutely LOVE the little nook! I would want to spend all my time in there though, so I suppose it is good I don’t have one! ; ) Thanks for stopping by my blog!
By the time we clean it up each day, everyone is ready to leave. ;)
Love it! I would love if our landing was designed with more of a place to school, but our family room works well ;)
Use what works!
Love it! We need some bean bag chairs in our house…going to have to work on that :)
The bean bag was a new addition, I wish they had a bolder color, we had to go with blue. :(
Very neat and organized. Looks like fun for the kids! Thanks for sharing. :)
Thank you, Heidi. :D
This is an awesome space. Love how open and inviting it is.
Thank you, Kristen! It was our third try at a homeschool space. Thankfully, this one has worked!
Ooo – the black and green is awesome! I really like how it’s laid out for multiple students. We just have the one table in our school room and I’m thinkin’ some seperate desks would be good. Very fun room. Love the balloons 1-6!
Thanks! We found those in Mississippi a few years ago on vacation, and it seemed perfect with six kids, as the balloons only went to 6!
Lovely! In your reading nook, did you make those number posters? Too cute with the little owls.
Nope, I got them at Walmart for 88 cents! I bought them just because of the owls!
What a great space! I love that it is so open and a part of the house without being your main space! Ours is in our family room. I am just glad to have a space to learn at home this year. This is our first year :-)
Thank you. :) Congratulations on the decision to homeschool!
