Wednesday in The Word: 1 Corinthians One

I’m finally here in 1 Corinthians! I am enjoying being back in the New Testament, this is where we are taught what our Christian walk, and I plan to spend the year within these books.

Bible Study

Scripture:

For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God.

1 Corinthians 1:26-29

Observation:

These men who were accepting of the Gospel weren’t the most wise, powerful or noble. Those who often respond with all of themselves are not those who walk with pride.

Application:

It isn’t about me; it’s about Christ. He walked perfectly, He gave it all.

Whenever I get caught up in the things that I am doing, I need to remember Who deserves the credit.

I need to die to self, and keep pushing to the goal.

Prayer:

Father, help me shed self and put on Christ. Help me to do that with a humble spirit. Give me others to share Your Word with, so that they may also follow in Your Son’s path.
