Have you ever come out of a heavy fog and felt so relieved that you could relax when the clean air finally appeared? Less screen time has definitely felt like that for me. Instead of feeling like I need to get to the computer, I feel dread at walking up those stairs.
I feel relief that I only need to go upstairs to work. I don’t even feel guilty that I am blogging much less.
Did I just say that?
What Unwired Looks Like Now
My Facebook limit of 30 minutes online a day has never even reached running out.
My tabs are still gone when I hop onto Chrome.
I deleted my Facebook app on my iPhone, but reinstalled it a few days later as I have groups I need to manage daily. Oops. I moved them to the second apps page though, to lesson the chance I will waste time there.
I installed the Facebook messenger on my front page, to attend to just private conversations faster.
What Unwired Has Done For Me
Without worrying about numbers, stats, or posting frequency, I find my numbers climbing more steadily than ever. I don’t need to be online 24/7 to be a “good blogger”!
My focus is better, and I find myself much less distracted.
I’m more centered spiritually.
I have more street cred with my kids when I tell them to get out of a screen.
I have peace and relief, like driving out of a heavy fog.
Something had to give. I made the right choice about what went.
I’m currently working a few jobs from home still, and I am also working 40 hours a week at Walmart. That doesn’t leave much time to work with, and my family is certainly taking priority over the internet.
I have some great ladies that I am working with as cashier, and I enjoy those little moments we get to have little chats to learn more about each other. I am really enjoying working, much to my surprise.
How are you doing reducing screen time? I’d love for you to share your victories and your struggles!
